Earth Day
On Earth Day, two classes from Tri-County Career Center united forces to give the Earth a hand (or 60!).  Mrs. Steven’s Science Class and Mrs. Goodman’s Communication Class picked up about 15 large bags of trash from County Rd. 4 (near Movies 10) and prepared over 25 tires, a couch, a mattress and carpet to be taken away by the Township and disposed of in the proper way.  While the students and teachers spent nearly an hour and a half picking up trash and pulling the invasive species, garlic mustard, many students wanted to stay longer to fully finish the job.  Despite finding mud, ants and the occasional tick, the students and teachers both seemed to enjoy themselves.  Many students suggested that more TCCC classes or even the whole school periodically take some time from classes to help pick up pollution along the roadside of nearby roads.  Students in Mrs. Goodman’s class were asked to reflect a bit on the experience in order to share with others.  Here’s what they had to say:

BPA State Winners

David Riley and Natalie McCown, from Tri-County Career Center's Office Professional program, placed in state competition at the Business Professionals of America Contest in Columbus. David, a junior from Alexander, placed 1st in Database Applications and Natalie McCown, a senior from Trimble, placed 5th in Advanced Word Processing.  Both will advance to the National Competition in Anaheim, California, May 4-9, 2010.  Also, Brittany Blosser, a junior from New Lexington, placed in the top ten in Fundamentals of Spreadsheet.  Approximately 1500 student competed at the State level.  David, Natalie, and their instructor, Cathy Evans, will attend the National Competiton in Anaheim, where David and Natalie will compete with more than 5000 contests from across the nation.  Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school students preparing for careers in business and information technology.

 

 
SkillsUSA 2010

Tri-County Career Center Returns to State Championship 

The 2010 Ohio SkillsUSA Championships will be held in Columbus, Ohio at the state fairgrounds on April 23 & 24. Nearly 3000 students and adivsors from career centers and techinical programs throughout the state will compete in 66 skills and leadership contests. Tri-County Career Center students will be competing for GOLD in 6 contests. the gold medal winner willl compete in the SkillsUSA National Championships in Kansas City, Missouri, June21-25, 2010 for national honors.

Tri-County Career Center had the Following students/instructors qualify for state competition at regional contests by winning a top 3 place recently held at Mid-East Career Center on Saturday. March 6.

Tri-County Career Center is the “premier” career and technical school in Southeastern Ohio, helping high school students prepare for collegiate education, workforce preparation or the military.
